Dr. Edwin R. Schertzer, Jr.

Dr. Edwin Schertzer was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Following graduation from high school, he was awarded multiple academic scholarships to colleges and universities. Ed graduated from William Jewell College in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and studies in biology, physics, and mathematics. Additional educational challenges were found at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he received a teaching fellowship while working toward his master's degree in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry. While within that program, Ed switched his academic careers and was invited to attend the UMKC School of Dentistry. During the third year of dental school, he was identified, nominated and selected by both the academic and clinical professional staff of the school as a candidate for early graduation and outstanding achievement from the school of dentistry. Ed was granted his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1975, having completed the professional school program in only three years, and he graduated with numerous awards for attaining the highest academic and clinical levels of achievement.

Following early graduation from dental school, Ed decided to return to St. Louis and begin his professional career. He practiced as an associate dentist in a group practice for several years to obtain experience, and then established Kennerly Dental Group in 1979 to serve the communities of St. Louis County with personalized family and cosmetic dental services with an emphasis on providing outstanding professional care. Ed is incredibly honored and proud that both his sons, Aaron and David, have chosen to follow his professional career path. David has joined the Kennerly Dental Group staff and worked proudly alongside Ed since obtaining his professional license in 2003, ensuring the future for the practice and family dental service to the people of St. Louis County. Since 1975, Ed has been an active and proud member of the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society.

Ed was married in 1971 and lives with his wife, Sharon, at their home in Sunset Hills, Missouri. They have both enjoyed an active life and participated in numerous ways in the life of their community and church. Their proudest achievement in life has been obtained by the successful raising of their three children and witnessing their respective individual achievements. Their youngest child, Kimberly, returned to St. Louis after working in the computer technology industry in California for 4 years. Kim is now employed in the business office of Kennerly Dental Group utilizing her knowledge and experience with computer systems, making the practice a true family business. Ed and Sharon greatly enjoy regularly attending major local sporting events including games played by the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, and St. Louis Blues. During most of the summer months, they spend as much time as possible enjoying their second home at Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. Kennerly Dental Group has been proud to have been selected during 2005 to be a Proud Sponsor of the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders.

Dr. David M. Schertzer

Dr. David Schertzer was born and raised in St. Louis County, Missouri. He attended school in the Lindbergh School District, where he excelled in academic programs and participated actively in the sports programs of the district. David was a member of the varsity wrestling team as well as the varsity volleyball team. Following graduation from Lindbergh High School in 1997, David was privileged to be selected as one of only about 20 high school scholars from the United States to attend a specialized program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. This program allowed him to complete both his undergraduate university education and his professional education in an extremely rigorous six year time span instead of the normal eight years. In 2003, David graduated from the UMKC School of Dentistry with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and simultaneously with his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

Following graduation from professional school, David realized that there was only one place that he wanted to establish and practice dentistry, so he returned to St. Louis and joined the professional staff at Kennerly Dental Group where he practices with his father. He enjoys providing personalized family and cosmetic dental services. David is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society.

David enjoys being back in his hometown and giving back to the community in which he was raised and educated. During his personal time away from the office, David enjoys staying active playing volleyball and softball. He is a lifetime die-hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, and the St. Louis Blues.

David was married in 2004 and lives with his wife, Lindsay, their daughter Taylor Reese, and their new son Rylan James who was born 2-8-10. His wife was a very active and outstanding member of the 2005-2006 St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders and started her own fitness DVD business. She grew up in a suburb of Chicago, so David has actively encouraged her to develop an interest in the local sports and teams of St. Louis. Together, they are raising their miniature pinscher named Epic, who enjoys running, eating, and sleeping on their couch, bed, or warm piles of laundry.
